Student Fashion Show Poster Design
Project Category: Editorial Photography, Graphic Design, Print Design

Softwares: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
The challenge:
For this project, the objective was to curate a final design solution for an 18x24 size poster based off of our chosen theme/event. We were asked to select a theme/topic and create an event poster around it. Once we had a theme in mind, we were expected to organize our research for inspiration and for later documentation in our process books. Thumbnail sketching, grid layouts, and experimentation with different compositions were key in this project.
During my initial research stage, I was deeply inspired by editorial fashion posters and even concert posters. I wanted to find a large variety of inspiration so that I could experiment with lots of different compositions. I found a lot of interest in compositions that combined editorial imagery with bright, bold type treatment that unified the overall composition/color theme. After curating a board of images that I was the most inspired by, I noted their use of bright, contrasting colors as well as their use of an eye-catching visual hierarchy.
After gaining an idea of the imagery I was looking for when I finished my thumbnail sketches, I used an EOS Rebel T7 Canon camera in a lighting studio to take various dynamic shots of a model to incorporate into my final poster. My goal was to add a professional, editorial appeal to the photos, so I intentionally chose black business clothing and a slicked-back hairstyle. I used Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for post-editing and saved the images as PNGs to use in Adobe Illustrator.
