Analysis of Web Anatomy
Planning, Inspiration, and Research Phase
Title/Topic - Appalachian Conservancy
Subject matter and its relevance - The website will provide information, testimonies, and resources on how/why the organization is aiming to protect the Appalachian regions and communities from mountaintop coal mining.
Why did you choose the topic? - I chose this topic because I was interested in shining a light on a sustainability issue that many people are not aware of.
Who is the target audience?* - The target audience includes members of Appalachian communities, politicians, lawmakers, coal miners, families, and young adults.
What should they expect to see when they arrive at our website?* - They should expect to see lots of historical scrapbook imagery, testimonies, engaging information, resources for advocacy, etc.
What is the primary purpose of the website?* - This website will aim to inform, educate, and encourage others to join local restoration programs or donate to local non-profits who fight for protection of the mountainous ecosystem.
What message needs to be conveyed?* - That the region is almost sacred to its local citizens due to its rich ecological and historical significance. I want a story to be told by the people affected and I want them to feel a sense of empathy towards the nature they live in.
